Ladies, how many times have you stood in front of your wardrobe and thought to yourself, “I have NOTHING to wear!”? We’ve all been there. It seems like no matter how many clothes you own, there will always be a point where you hate everything in your wardrobe. A lot of the time this feeling can be attributed to new trends, changing styles and evolving tastes. Sometimes we feel like all of our clothes are outdated, too fancy, or too casual for the occasion we are trying to dress for. And every now and then we’re not able to see all of the clothes in our closets because of the way they are laid out. Here are a few ways you can fight this phenomenon and learn to love the clothes you have!
1. Invest in Basics
Basics never go out of style. A striped shirt with skinny jeans and ballet flats will never look bad or outdated or unfashionable. That’s because this outfit is a classic. Similarly there are other pieces that never go out of style no matter how old they are. That’s why it’s better to invest in basics. Unlike trendy pieces, you will never get tired of wearing basics. It’s great to invest in high quality basics because they will last you a great number of years and offer you incredible versatility in your wardrobe. It’s easy to layer and come up with new outfits if you have a great foundation of clothes. Invest in pieces like a great pair of jeans, some high quality button downs and blouses, a few high end t-shirts (both short and long sleeved) and an assortment of blazers. With these pieces in your closet, you’ll always feel like you have something to wear!
2. Organize Your Closet
With your closet a mess and your clothes all over the place, you’ll never find something to wear! Have you ever halfheartedly gotten ready for an event, only to realize later that you had the perfect outfit to wear if only you had remembered it? Organize your clothes in a way that makes it easy for you to see exactly what you have. Color coordinate your closet and divide things by season. If you don’t have a walk in closet with lots of space, be diligent about the way you organize what you have. If your clothes are laid out in a manner that’s appealing, you’ll be more likely to want to wear them!
3. Spring Clean
It can be hard to get rid of clothes but having an excessive amount of clothes that you don’t need can keep you from accessing the clothes that you like in your wardrobe. That’s why it’s so important to constantly clean your closet. If there’s something you haven’t worn in 6 months, it’s unlikely that you’ll want to wear it any time soon. Be realistic about what you wear and how often you wear it. There are lots of options for what to do with the clothes you no longer wear. You can donate them to charity and you can also sell them at consignment shops or on online apps! Make sure you keep your wardrobe limited to pieces that you absolutely love and get rid of everything else!
